Meets the Mission Content Marketing Campaign

The BASELAYER hardware sales team needed collateral to explain how modular hardware solutions “meet the mission” by offering a modular data center solution that is reliable, quickly deployed, cost-efficient and flexible. Featuring two main product lines, BASELAYER CORE and BASELAYER EDGE, the content marketing campaign was designed to stand out from the typical data center product focused spec sheets, and demonstrate alignment with the customers’ unique industry and needs.

Moving from a product driven sales approach to an industry solutions provider meant original research and data were the most effective first steps toward building the BASELAYER content marketing campaign. The result was five individual streams of content to support the targeted vertical markets and address the value needs critical to each. Datasheets and deployment stories were created for each vertical.

Automated Estimation Tool

BASELAYER, the company that pioneered the modular data center, is dedicated to delivering hardware and software products to support the needs of today’s data-driven world. The company’s current estimation process for BASELAYER’s hardware products was manual, cumbersome and very time intensive. With a tagline of “We simplify the data center and make it smart,” the difficult process did not support their brand message of simplicity and intelligence. Further, it created a negative customer experience and ultimately impacted revenue opportunities.

BASELAYER tasked 48 West Agency with defining a standard process for fielding estimate requests, simplifying the estimation process for both the end user and solutions engineer while reducing the manual effort and delivering estimates in a consistent manner. We focused on creating a web-based estimation process, followed by a second phase to include phone and email requests. Developing an automated estimation solution enhanced the BASELAYER customer experience and has served to bring ease and order to the messy undertaking of fulfilling customized estimation requests. The automation freed employees to offer better service, solve problems and make recommendations. Customers can place estimation requests in their preferred manner, increasing customer satisfaction.

In 2017, BASELAYER wanted to design a new sales partner program that provided them with insight to pre-RFP high-tech construction projects and major facilities construction projects. The team at 48 West Agency recommended creating a network of strategic alliance partners to connect their valued joint clients with world-class data center hardware solutions.

Through a partner program, BASELAYER would address enterprise clients’ top data center challenges to ensure their business stays up and running and that their data is accessible in an instant. The program was opened exclusively to value-added design, engineering and high-tech construction facilities and major construction projects requiring data center capabilities. 48 West created a comprehensive partner sales kit to deliver a new pipeline of sales opportunity.
