BASELAYER, the company that pioneered the modular data center, is dedicated to delivering hardware and software products to support the needs of today’s data-driven world. The company’s current estimation process for BASELAYER’s hardware products was manual, cumbersome and very time intensive. With a tagline of “We simplify the data center and make it smart,” the difficult process did not support their brand message of simplicity and intelligence. Further, it created a negative customer experience and ultimately impacted revenue opportunities.

BASELAYER tasked 48 West Agency with defining a standard process for fielding estimate requests, simplifying the estimation process for both the end user and solutions engineer while reducing the manual effort and delivering estimates in a consistent manner. We focused on creating a web-based estimation process, followed by a second phase to include phone and email requests. Developing an automated estimation solution enhanced the BASELAYER customer experience and has served to bring ease and order to the messy undertaking of fulfilling customized estimation requests. The automation freed employees to offer better service, solve problems and make recommendations. Customers can place estimation requests in their preferred manner, increasing customer satisfaction.
